Signs That You Have A Centipede Problem

Centipedes, with their numerous legs and elongated bodies, are nocturnal predators that seek shelter in homes, especially in damp, dark areas. While they aid in controlling other pest populations, their presence indoors can be unsettling. Centipedes can deliver a painful, venomous bite if provoked, causing discomfort or allergic reactions in some individuals. Moreover, their presence may signal underlying moisture issues or an abundance of other household pests. Preventing centipedes from infiltrating homes is essential to avoid potential bites, maintain a pest-free environment, and address underlying conditions that attract these creatures.

Centipedes In Arizona

Giant Desert Vermin

The largest of Arizona’s three centipede species, the gigantic desert centipede is generally 6 1/2 ins long yet sometimes reaches eight or even nine ins. It possesses a dark-gray scalp, yellowish-orange physical body, and 20 sets of lower legs. Giant desert centipedes typically reside outdoors under stones, bricks, or even potted plants. Sadly, they usually find sanctuary in old cartons and dark, dry locations inside residences and properties.

Common Desert Centipede

Size between 5 and 7 inches in duration, the widespread desert centipede is a little smaller than its near relative, the immense desert centipede. It possesses a bright-red scalp and an orange-yellow body system, segmented through dark-gray bands. They like to hide under rocks and plant outdoors yet may stray into residences trying to find home and pests to quest.

Residence Centipede

Despite being Arizona’s least damaging centipede variety, your house centipede has a horrifying look. Its own body is dark gray-yellow with three direct stripes. Due to its 15 pairs of pale-yellow lower legs, it appears like a spider at a glance. Home vermins utilize their several lower legs to dart around residences seeking smaller-sized bugs to eat.
